Keeping Power
Close to Home

Securing energy in the Town of Hamburg to minimize blackouts and reduce high energy costs.

About the Project

The Hamburg II East & West ESS, LLC Project is a proposed battery energy storage system (BESS) in the Town of Hamburg, New York that will provide a critical, cost-effective source of reliable power to support the local area. This battery energy storage system will store energy on the local distribution network for Hamburg residents, discharging cheaper, cleaner power to homes and businesses during the time of day when demand is at its peak. By storing excess energy and delivering it to homeowners when it is needed most, battery storage helps balance supply and demand, lower monthly electric bills, reduce strain on the utility grid, and prevent outages.

Local infrastructure for your COMMUNITY

Securing the Town of Hamburg, Eden, and Evans

Electricity demand is increasing in the region, and grid infrastructure is aging. Community-level battery energy storage projects like the Hamburg Project connect to the local distribution system and provide power resiliency during extreme events (i.e. cold snaps, heat waves, power loss, etc.). Its main impact is local. The Hamburg II ESS Project supports the local Lakeview substations, reduces strain during peak demand, and improves reliability in this area.

This project additionally supports the towns of Eden and Evans with the host community, Hamburg, receiving benefits of predictable, reliable tax revenue, and local oversight.
